My main caveat about this is mostly about me. I have a wireless desktop, wireless mouse, and wireless keyboard. The volume up and down are aligned left and right of each other, but there is a power button in the middle – making it easy to turn off. To make it more complicated, these 3 buttons are all unique sizes and shapes from one another, and don’t feel like arrows or anything relative to what their function is.
That’s what I wanted to do with this purchase, so mission accomplished. I have a friend that has an older set (HDR 130) of these head phones and I tried them out.
And if you don’t want to spend a fortune for 7.1 surround sound, this might be an excellent option. The only downside is they can get a little warm (would not exercise with them on, for instance). Whether it is much better than the 130′s is a perception thing since I can’t at the same time be hearing both. If I had found an issue with the sound quality of the 130′s, then the 180′s would have solved it. Unfortunately, none of the digital headphone systems will allow you to watch TV with your loved ones. The transmitter has to be physically tied to the TV sound source with a cable, which limits your choices for where to plug in the charging station. The sound starts breaking up at about 25 feet but because I am sitting maybe 10 feet from my big screen 99% of the time this is not a big deal. The thing I dislike most is the volume up/on-off/volume down button set on the underside of the right ear piece.
So I bought these because the RF headset that I normally use was starting to break down physically. I had used it for years with no real problem. Setup was quick and easy. The base station charges the headphones when you place them on top, which I do at the end of the day.
I’d like these better if they did not have this type of wide look. I wear glasses so studio headphones can be uncomfortable. cordless stereo headphones.
